Parental Love
The guy across the way from me is going home to die
His daughter and son in law came in with their baby to visit
All attention went to the kid.
Proud parents
But no one gave the old man the baby to hold.
Maybe he was too weak.
His son came in to pick him up.
He didn’t want to be there,
He had no time for hospitals, the sick and dying fathers,
The lifts were out for ten minutes,
And although his dad was packed and ready to go he couldn’t wait.
He walked down eight flights of stairs and came back four hours later,
Begrudgingly.
I hope the old man has loads of money and leaves it all to an animal charity,
But I can tell by his look that he has always been poor.
So I hope he has enough to buy a gun and with his dying breath
Shoot his shit of a son.
