Dear All,
I spent Christmas and the New Year in England getting fat on roast
dinners beer and whiskey. Christmas was spent with Bren and Eug in Barton on
Sea where I ate enough roast potatoes to sink a battle ship, then it was off
down to Cornwall with Merwin. Neither of us had been down to Cornwall in the
winter before so it was nice to see the place off season. I finally saw the
famous Cadgwith Christmas lights which I tried to photograph, they seem to
have come out a little bit smudged. I got to play in the pub on folk night,
see a mummers play for the first time, visit the Gweek seal sanctuary,
walked out to St Michaels Mount, another first, saw the Minnak theatre where
I had a cream tea (yummy) and went to a party. Then it was back to London
on New Years Eve stopping off in Mudgley in Somerset to pick up some
scrumpy and Cheddar cheese from Roger Wilkins. We went to an all night New
Years Eve party where I met a couple of people I haven't seen since I was a
teenager. On the Sunday we all went off to the Scout Hut in Hendon to see
Ed's Ferrets, North London's premier oldies band, where I played a few songs
including "Dead Puppies" a song that always seems to go down well in
England. I was happy to fly home to get some rest or I would have been if
Easy Jet hadn't lost my luggage and damaged my guitar. I got my bag back
about 30 hours later (delivered to my door) and sent off the damage report
to Easy Jet by e-mail. I e-mailed them again a few days later but up till
now they still haven't acknowledged the e-mails.
Anyhow, I had a CT scan last Monday and I saw Dr Death on Thursday to get
the results. The treatment has worked fairly well, not fantastic but fairly
well, which is better than the Dr thought it was going to work, so I go back
for more tests in three months time. The chemo has left me with tinnitus and
my hearing is down fifteen percent on what it should be but that's better
than being dead. I'm in remission and I hope it goes on for ages.
All the best for the New Year,
Love Steve.
